Unlike green laser pointers or derivatives of same , for use as non lethal visual impairment devices, the Standard Laser Dazzler™ was designed from inception to be eye safe at aperture (flashlight exit lens) yet have sufficient energy density and SPOT SIZE to be useable in high stress situations. As heart rate increases in high stress situations fine motor skills diminish rapidly and the ability to aim a confined laser beam that will sufficiently cover eyes in a moving human subject disappears in an instant. Commercially available green laser pointers are not designed with sufficient energy to meet the energy density in a useable SPOT SIZES to be practical laser visual impairment devices yet can have energy densities sufficient to cause irreversible eye damage at the exit of the device.
